“D4” Design Communication Event

China Design Club Communication on July 6, Thursday 2006


Hello! There are many designers in Beijing and we should be getting together to talk about important design issues. Several of us have decided to start a Beijing Design Club – called D4 – and would love it if you came out to play.

We want to have a meeting the first Thursday of every month and talk about different topics. This is a casual, social event, and anyone interested in Design is more than welcome to attend. And we hope everyone will participate!


When: First Thursday of each month! This Thursday, July 6th, 6:30pm – 8pm (but feel free to hang out longer)
Where: The super cool BED BAR
north of Houhai off of Jiugulou Dajie (see map below)

Topic: How to change from being a DESIGN WORKER to a DESIGN THINKER
We feel this is a very important topic, and hope this will be a dynamic interactive discussion. Some specific questions we’d like to discuss are:
What qualities do professional designers need?
> How do we learn creative problem solving skills?
> How do we get trust and respect from
> Our Boss (non-designer)
> Our Company (non-design savvy)
> Our Client (wants us to make it round and blue)
> How can we approach this in China?
Please bring your own questions to discuss or email them to us prior to the meeting.

Language: both Chinese and English, no formal translation
Cost: nothing official but please buy at least one drink to support our venue J

The Bed Bar is located on the west side of Jiu Gulou St. The hutong is marked – and the Bed Bar is about 200 meters down on the left side – you’ll see a red lantern above the door. Call if you need directions. Most people get out of the cab on Jiu Gulou and walk to the bar.
